A Drinkcember to Remember for Kenyan Music Lovers

The Kenyan music scene has been relatively quiet. As we officially usher in ‘Drinkcember’ we got you on what’s happening where and when and who did what and when(phewks, that line though).

First of all let us start with great projects that have recently dropped. First on the roster is American based Kenyan ,Amani Yours, who dropped her debut project ‘TBH’ a week ago. If you are looking for a smooth, soulful, well written project to vibe to, this should definitely be your go to. Next up is the visual to ‘Roses’ by eclectic producer Ukweli and the vivacious Miss Karun. The single dropped a while back but the visual was released about a week ago and after watching it I totally get why they took their time with it. The visual gives retro vibes with Ukweli and Miss Karun playing love interests a little too well? King Kaka finally dropped his long awaited ‘Eastlando Royalty’ album, a star studded project that recruited far and wide from the Caribbean islands to the Brooklyn projects in the form of Romain Virgo to Talib Kweli and Tracy Morgan respectively. Finally Khaligraph Jones dropped Khali Cartel 2 a cypher like single tapping Kenyan hip hop acts including controversial acts Twenny Eights who went bar for bar with each other.

With December; the official event season upon us I thought I’d put you guys onto some great events set to happen during the weekend. The biggest event has to be the Jameson event with the Stefflon Don, Bas and Desiigner trio who’ve all had a great year set to perform for the first time in Kenya on the 8th of December (today). The beautiful and very talented group of ladies; Miss Karun, Sage and Muluma Maloba are also having a collaborative acoustic event which is set to be super chill on the 8th as well and are most definitely set to satisfy all your acoustic needs, a little birdie says they are set to perform a stripped down acoustic version of ‘Roses’, how dope would that be. If you thought that’s all, think again, on the 9th, the men of soul event is happening at the Michael Joseph centre with Manasseh Shalom, Noel Nderitu, Kato Change and Isaac Kimani as the headlining acts, American-based Lisa Oduor will also make a cameo appearance as a guest act.

With all these talented acts on the soil, if you are looking to start Drinkcember (I’m trying to make this a thing) off right you can’t go wrong with either the music or event recommendations. So what are we listening to first and after that where are we going after?
