Avril Cares About The Environment and It Shows

Kenyan musician Avril was recently appointed as an environment ambassador. She was selected by Just Digg It, a Dutch environmental organization as the Kenyan brand ambassador.

The organization website reads that it is, “a non-profit organization that jump starts landscape restoration of degraded lands by retaining water and preventing soil erosion.” South African Nobel Prize winner, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is also a brand ambassador.

It is great seeing celebrities take up courses that support the environment. There have been heightened fears of the state of the world climate and therefore, each positive step counts.

Avril talked about her new job on Instagram saying, “Today was a great day! Thank you (Justdiggit) for allowing me to lend my voice to Just Digg It and the Rain Dance Project as a Kenyan Brand Ambassador … I’m definitely ready to play my part in Cooling down the planet…”

The organization is currently running a project at Kenya’s Amboseli National Park. They have managed to re-green 800 hectares of grass and woodland. This is in an aim to protect the wildlife as well as sustain the communities around the area. They’re also helping stop soil erosion in Kuku Ranch in Southern Kenya by assisting the community dig water harvesting bunds.

Avril has a strong social media presence as well as an easily identifiable brand. This will be valuable in pushing the course to Kenyan millennials about the importance of taking care of our environment.

The singer is also currently promoting new jam, ‘Kitoko’, in which she was featured by Congolese singer and producer L-Rice.
