Morgan Freeman was in Kenya for a ‘Godly’ reason

American award-winning actor Morgan Freeman was in Kenya last year. According to Kiss 100, he was here to film the third episode of his TV series titled ‘The Story of God with Morgan Freeman.’ He interviewed Dr Charles Mulli, a well-known Kenyan social entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Morgan Freeman went to Machakos to shoot the episode for the TV series which has been running for three years now. In the show, the actor explores the meaning of life, God and questions in between to understand how religion has evolved and shaped society. The episodes are usually one hour long and have seen Morgan visit nearly 20 cities in seven different countries and that is how he ended up in Kenya last year.

It is worth noting that Morgan has non-traditional views about God stating in a Washington Post article that, “My opinion does not question the existence of God, merely how we arrived at the existence of God,” whom he believes resides within us and not out there in the world. It is interesting therefore to see him cover such topics.

Dr Charles Mulli came into the limelight in 2017 when an Oscar-nominated titular film about him ‘Mully‘, directed by Scott Haze, was released. It showed the world Dr Mulli’s difficult come-up story and his philanthropic heart that led him to donate his acquired wealth to street children and even founded Mulli Children’s Family.

Mulli’s story is touching and one guided by his deep Christian beliefs and therefore one can understand Morgan’s interest in featuring such a man on a show about God and religion. You can watch ‘Mully’ movie online. It is not yet available on Netflix.

You can watch Morgan Freeman’s show on DSTV’s National Geographic channel. Check out the trailer for episode three:
