Gengetone artist, Fat Boy Gwaash made the cut. He’s a fourth year student at Riara University undertaking International Relations. His jam ‘Wabebe’ hit over 3 million views on YouTube.
“The list comprises of 25 universities. It took about 5 months to prepare the list which was curated from online searches, correspondents from different universities, national competitions and media engagements,” Ferdinand Muganda, Co-founder of the Ultimate Varsity Awards (UVA) in Moi University stated.
The whole process was powered by the Ultimate Varsity Awards in partnership with the Kenya University Students’ Organization (KUSO). Others to make it to the list include Sean Andrew, Kibanja and Shanki Austine. Moi University’s Kepha Erick Opass is also on the list. The student leader has a cult like following and his prominence grew when he was awarded the prestigious PLO Lumumba Young Pan Africanist award in 2018.
